I bought my turtles from a pet shop and was just thinking they are around the same size would they be siblings?

If they are siblings, am I right in saying they need to be separated so they don't breed mutants...and how old until I can tell their gender?...They're krefft's and around 3 and a half inch's and 4 and a half inch's
