Liberals: why are they impressed with Obama's background--in my town, he's a joke?

To put the question in context, an unusually large percentage of residents in my town graduated from Ivy League universities, business schools, law schools, and medical schools. The difference between us and Obama, however, is that nearly all of us are accomplished professionals in the private sector. By contrast, Obama has never been anything more than a third-year junior ociate lawyer, adjunct night lecturer in first year constitutional law, a lowly state senator who "mailed it in," and a U.S. Senator who essentially quit after one year. That's barely enough to get you elected PTA President in my town.
