Snowy places japan? Ideas...?

Hi, I'm asking alot of questions this week. My friend wants to visit somewhere with a snowy landscape in japan. We have ruled out the Sapporo area as will take a very long time from Tokyo. And we will have all ready visited fuji.....We are thinking iwate? Is this a good choice, or could anyone suggest anymore?
