Are there any ways to give yourself sinusitis?

my doctor is a complete idiot. i have had a sore throat for 8 days now, and it is redder than a fire truck. it also has white patches all over it. i am coughing really bad to the point where it makes me gag almost every time i have a coughing fit. the mucus i am coughing up is whiteish-amber in color. my ears ache like crazy. all he would do for me is to give me a prescription for Promethazine-codeine syrup, which is a narcotic. i dont understand why he wouldn't give me any antibiotics for it. he didn't do a strep test even though my cousin, who i had visited 4 days before this all started has strep throat. he told me that it is just allergies. i am on allergy medication already because i am allergic to my dog. i just called the doctor again today, and he wants to see me tomorrow. he said that the only way that he would even consider antibiotics is if i had sinusitis. is there any way to make my sinuses clogged up overnight? i could tell him that my sinuses hurt really badly..i am just not sure what to do. i have been missing work because of this...working around food isn't best when sick.
