Does anyone have Fruit Flies? How do i get rid of them?

I went away for the night not realizing my son had left half a banana in the kitchen and i left my windows open. I came home today and my kitchen is absolutely swarming with little fruit flies! I'm petrified to go in there! Please, how do i get rid of them?
