What was the treatment of Japanese-Americans like during WWI?

They were treated like sh**. I had a coworker that was in a camp and all she would say was that it was so awful to be considered non-American when all she ever she knew was American--neither her nor her parents had ever been to Japan...she refused to talk about the subject much so I can only ume it was not nice.
